From todays' show

Linda Barclay | Public Affairs Officer

Keith Garner is opening the Fair at 10AM and as this is one of their big fundraisers did not want to be late getting back

I have had a very busy week, with helping a friend moving his late sister in laws stuff from Newcastle. Work and life in general

So I have been without access to the net for 2 days it is back up now
So it is a little difficult when things are not as they should be.

So how do we prepare, for life’s little in consistencies

What can you do?

Have you backed up your PC?

Do you have an external storage place for your files?

If you are way can you still get your email?

These days with so many different things happening

It is good to be reminded of these little things.

We often overlook the little things

Little things are what spoil our days, friendships business

Big things funny enough we usually deal with little things are what do our lolly

This week on the Show

Either
The Superintendent, Keith Garner or Public Affairs Manager Graeme Cole

Part of what they will talk about apart from their roll at Wesley is
What used to be called Spring Fair not called Wesley Fair
The new-look Wesley Fair – Wesley Mission’s annual spring event fundraiser – will have more bargains and better products than ever before when it’s opened on Thursday, 28 September by the Chief Executive Officer of the Commonwealth Bank, Ralph Norris.
Now in its 93rd year Wesley Fair will also unveil its new format and stalls running from Thursday, 28 September (10 am to 6 pm) through Friday,
29 September (10 am to 4 pm) and on Saturday, 30 September (10 am to 2 pm).
The official opening will be held on Thursday, 28 September at 10 am at the 220 Pitt Street entrance to Wesley Mission.
The bargain spectacular will have something for everyone. Designer and vintage clothing, gifts for Christmas and birthdays, books, CDs, plants, and even something for the bargain hunter with unusual taste.
There will also be a vast array of jams, cakes and craft stalls and an international food hall.
The Wesley Fair continues its long and rich tradition of raising funds for Wesley Mission’s services and programs with funds this year going to Wesley Mission’s Northmead Breakaway Children’s Respite Centre which provides the parents and carers of intellectually disabled children a break from the long hours of constant caring. The money raised will be used to purchase much-needed equipment and to meet other needs

Email

The church community is a very excitable one, last week there was an email that went around the world tell news of Steve an event that didn’t happen. (See post where is Steve)

Now well meaning people do things then everyone else just hit the forward tab on their email next thing you know it has gone every where.

If you send it you are responsible, to make sure it is true. Now I got the email and thought that is funny not all of this information makes sense.
I will have look in to this, which I did and posted what I found on the blog.

It didn’t take to long but I did do it.

The same for the myriad of other emails the come in to your in box every day.
It is not a big thing to type Hoax into a search engine to find out if it just a time wasting see how many times I can get this around the world email.
Or it is real & you want to send it on.
In Google there are 17,200,000 sites that will tell you about Hoaxes

The other is be careful of well meaning people in your organization a few years ago a entry cadet in a medium sized organization over in the U.S. sent out an email about a cause. To do with the Taliban and the treatment of women, great email the only thing is she asked for replies the email went every where and the company email server could not cope with the amount of replies.
If you are going to do something like that, do it from a web base email Hotmail & Yahoo give you heaps of space these days.

Exit ideas?

In 1989 one of my; brother in laws passed away. He had an engineering business with another his life long friend, now he had had cancer for 6 years beaten death a few times before he started the business. So here is someone who needed a clear plan of what was to happen if he passed on. So what happened, it was a mess the two families parted ways no longer friends. Why because there wasn’t a clear communication of what was to happen. There was key-man insurance but all that does is put some money there for the beneficiary that was his wife. There was nothing articulated for the business.

Now in light of last week it made me think what happens if I fall off the perch.

I am a one person business, so even though I don’t have someone to pass the business to. I do need to think about my clients needs. One is not to hard, the other couple are a little harder.

So with Australia Zoo what do they do?

Here was Steve Irwin the face of the Zoo, what happens how do you replace Steve?

Brocky well that is a little different since his business was around cars his son the driver can be the face of the team. Then the business side well then there is any amount of people who know the industry.

The biggest thing is Iconic people leave massive holes to fill. Peter’s business will recover with the right people. The Zoo well there is a lot of trading in on what footage they have in the can. There will be those who want to come and look at the site of Steve’s grave & then his life’s work, so for a time they will be ok. He did have people looking after his business. Now they just need to be careful to pick the right person.

Last year they had the search for the front person for Inxs which was great TV & huge publicity for the band. So now they are on the road the TV show has sold the tickets & the CD of what is happening. It has taken years to find a replacement for Michael Hutchins

We need to think about what we are going t do now, imagine being left with the one you love and then having to deal with something you have no idea about.

It is not bad motivation to do something sooner rather than later

Just for a laugh

Birthday Calendar

I think you will find this interesting

http://www.paulsadowski.org/BirthDay.asp

I did

Danny?

In 1997 I spent most of the year working in Newcastle, grew to like their footy team.
I was driving home for the weekend as the team bus was being driven out of the city for the Grand final. All this from a South’s supporter
It is a very proud town & proud of its sons. Non more so than Danny Buderus
Now here we have Danny who has a great record with judiciary been given 6 weeks
What sort of message does that send. Now I do realises that it was not a good tackle.
However if even someone who has a great record gets rubout for the same time as someone who doesn’t have good record what message does that send to the fans & the players.

The standard of refereeing has been less then professional but what penalty is there for a bad game as the ref virtually none.
I don’t think that the NRL is fair dikum; when the players have a level expected of them and then even if you have a great record you get the same as someone who does this sort of tackle; every time they get on the paddock.

It is time for a great rethink I watched most of the games on the weekend I thought that he standard of those who administer the game needs a very serious look at.
I have not seen that much footy this year because of work. What I have seen has been seriously marred by those with the whistle

Wesley Fair

Comimg up as I said on the show last week. is the Wesley Fair
On the 28th of month I will have someone on the show to talkabout the fair
http://www.wesleymission.org.au/get_involved/events/Wesley_Fair/
will give you some details in the mean time.

This week on the show

Look at disaster planning

Over the last week we have as a nation lost two sons

Both those sons ran businesses so what does it mean to a business to loose a key person?

My guest is Jan Taylor from Sydney Cancer Foundation

Jan is a wonderful lady whom I sure will delight us with a great sense of fun

Jan works in very serious but rewarding area.

It will be great to hear her story

The usual music, traffic, trains and all the rest

This does speak for itself

Tomorrow we remember 9/11

Tomorrow we remember 9/11 for me it is a great day. It is my son Rhys’s birthday

This year he will be 15! So the night of his 10th birthday we had gone to bed, I had an early start the next morning I was off the look at a business in Newcastle to purchase on behalf of a client.

I was watching an episode of”Westwing” I was going to watch the news as I drifted off to sleep.

Just as the show was ending the news started to come through of a plane crash into the 1st tower, I thought the weather must be appalling so when they crossed to a bright sunny day. I thought how do crash in to something that big on nice day like they were having? My mind was not letting what it was compute I was thing how does this happen, so many questions too many questions.

Then as we watched the second plane came slamming into the 2nd tower I though what was that I could not believe what I had just seen it was surreal like in a move.

But NO it was real people were dieing people were dead this was really happening.

Now these 5 years latter what have we learned, Lots more people have died we are no closer to killing off terror networks. People will die for a cause if they believe in it.

The thing with the terror networks is they tie the act with that of there religion which bares no resemblance to anything that is actual. They say ‘Allah is merciful’ but to use an act of killing & injuring is not something a ‘merciful’ God would do.

9/11 was a shock it was an eye opener I have been looking and thinking of what can be the solution. In really with out the leaders of Islam saying this is wrong then there will be no solution

This week on the show

We will talk about enthusiasm & passion

In light of the passing of a passionate & exuberant man what can we learn from Steve Irwin”Crikey” what a life

I have been after a friend & Wesley Mission Fundraiser to come on the show. I finally caught up with Wes yesterday. Last time we spoke was when Warwick Marsh was on the show. It turns out the Wes has been off work for 3mths which is why I had been having difficulty getting hold of him. That day after over coffee he went to his next appointment while on the way damaged his foot, and he only just gone back to work.

He is working on having someone take his place so we will see what happens there
